Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)

Eligible small-scale renewable energy systems are entitled to create small-scale technology certificates (STCs). The number of STCs are based on the system’s location, installation date and the amount of electricity generated or displaced.

You should know:

  • STC prices fluctuate with the market and will rise and fall over the year
  • We will process all STCs for you to save you the time and effort
  • The number of STCs a system is eligible for increases with the rated power output (kW)

Once STCs have been created and validated, they act as a form of currency and can be sold for a rebate against the cost of purchasing and installing the system. Alternatively, they can be transferred to other individuals and businesses at a negotiated price. At Power Saving Centre Canberra, we give our customers the option to sign their STCs over to us, so they receive the full rebate without the hassle of trying to sell the STCs after their system has been installed.

ACT Next Generation Energy Storage Program

The ACT Government has envisioned for Canberra to become a globally recognised centre for renewable energy innovation and investment with the roll-out of the Next Generation Renewables Program. This program awards grants to successful solar installers within the ACT.

Power Saving Centre can offer up to $4,500 of subsidy for eligible storage systems

Power Saving Centre Canberra has been a successful proponent of the Next Generation Renewables Program for two consecutive years, and is 1 of only 8 successful applicants within the ACT. This program allows us to offer eligible batteries at a subsidised rate of up to $4,174.00 per battery and inverter unit. We have since installed over 60 battery systems under the Next Generation Storage Program and continue to contribute to the ACT government’s vision of renewable energy within Canberra.
